Dubai, UAE, February 28, 2019: A delegation from Smart Dubai and government entities will be attending the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit 2019, a global summit that discusses the opportunities and challenges in a future based on data and analytics. Taking place March 4-6 to coincide with International Open Data Day on March 3, the forum will examine how communities can best utilise informatics for accurate decision-making, promotion of business growth and the underpinning of sustainable development.

The Smart Dubai Delegation will be headed by H.E. Younus Al Nasser, assistant director general of Smart Dubai and CEO of Dubai Data Establishment. It will also include five data team leaders from Dubai’s government and public sector; Brigadier General Khalid Al Rzooqi Dubai Police Director General Manager of Artificial Intelligence, Assim Al Khaja DGHR Director of HR Information Department, Ahmad Al Emadi DM Acting CIO and Head of Information Security, Khoula Alhadad DEWA Deputy Manager Enterprise Data strategy and Standards, Dr. Mohammad Al redha DHA Director Information & Smart Health.

During the summit, H.E. Al Nasser will take part in a global CDO discussion interview on the importance of data for smart city development. The delegation’s data leaders will also attend seminars on data management and analysis to explore the most effective methods of using information. Among the specific areas being addressed will be the mechanisms for employing data in decision-making and the harnessing of information for service improvements that will positively impact Dubai's residents and visitors.

Discussing Smart Dubai’s attendance at the summit, H.E. Al Nasser emphasized his organization’s keenness to participate in global data industry events, saying that they offer an invaluable opportunity to develop and refine the expertise and knowledge of data leaders and their teams working in government departments in Dubai, enabling them to fulfill their professional duties according to the best international standards. He reiterated that such summits are integrated platforms that work to elevate standards in the field of data, encourage knowledge sharing and facilitate networking with international peers.

“Data leaders in Dubai are fundamental to gathering and analyzing data Dubai’s vision or drive to become the world’s smartest and happiest city. The continuous work and collaborative efforts between Dubai data establishments, data leaders and government entities have achieved significant results over the past year. In 2018 a total of 2,000 datasets were identified, with 134 databases published as open data and 137 databases as shared data. We expect more positive results this year," said H.E. Younus Al Nasser.

Smart Dubai’s participation in the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit 2019 summit comes as part of its strategy to train qualified teams capable of keeping pace with Smart Dubai’s transformation requirements, with data a cornerstone for delivering the best experiences and services to customers and the ideal tool for decision-making and future exploration.
